It's the new year, and that means two things: New Year's resolutions and Girl Scout cookies!
My resolution is to try (again) to get back into blogging. I feel like sharing some of my life's journey, knowledge learned along the way, and sometimes just bits of randomness could be cathartic.
I am currently healing from a battle with stage 3 colon cancer. I shared the journey publicly on FB while going through chemo, as I found it helped me and others (several people reached out to say my posts motivated them to reach out to their doc about getting their colonoscopy). However, I am not fond of the reliance on Meta. I'd really like to have a standalone way to share aspects of my life that is not surrounded by posts rife with misinformation, especially in this current political environment.
So here I am. Back again (again). I'll circle back to my cancer journey, hoping to motivate more people to be proactive about their health, but for now, I am starting with something simpler, more fun, and certainly more appetizing: Girl Scout Cookies!
Penelope, my 7-year-old, is a 1st-year Brownie, and this is her second year selling cookies. If you need a fix and don't have any local or family Girl Scout to support, please consider supporting her.
She has Thin Mints! She has Peanut Butter Patties! She has the delightful Caramel Delights! And new this year: Exploramores (Rocky Road-inspired sandwich cookies)!
She has cookies that are vegan, halal, kosher, and gluten-free/major-allergen-free.
You can also donate boxes of cookies to Hometown Heroes, a charity that assembles cookie baskets for military personnel, first responders, teachers, and healthcare workers. Donated boxes incur no shipping costs.
This year, Penny is trying to earn funds to support her troop's camping experience at Henry Cowell State Park and their service project with the Santa Cruz SPCA.
